The Buchan Group has played a key role on every stage of the development of Chadstone Shopping Centre since 1983. The most recent stage, the $140M West Mall expansion, cements the centre's position as Australia's most successful and best-known shopping destination. The new dedicated Luxury Precinct is a world class retail environment anchored by 12 of the strongest global retail brands.
The development by has been awarded a 5 Star Green Star rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. It is the first retail project in Australia to achieve a 5 Star Green Star rating under the formal Retail Centre v1 rating tool.
The West Mall was completed in November 2009. At the 2010 announcement of the Big Guns Survey of Australian Shopping Centres, Chadstone maintained its ranking as Australia's most successful shopping centre. The West Mall also received the Gold Award for Sustainable Design for the Renovation or Expansion of an Existing Project at the International Council of Shopping Centre’s Asia Awards announced in Shanghai on November 3, 2011.
Chadstone Place
Chadstone Place is a mixed use development with new, external Main Street precincts, a mix of retail formats, a restaurant and cafe piazza and a refurbished enclosed mall. The project also includes a 4-level office development of 7000m². A significant feature is the meandering street front, layered with generous landscaping, sculptures, street lighting and casual seating.
The development integrates with an existing transport hub and includes a transit lounge for bus passengers, a bicycle station and end of trip facilities.
Chadstone Place is the first Australian shopping centre to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Certified Rating under the Green Building Council Australia's Shopping Centre Design Pilot rating scheme.
