Light, space and views. The Emerald apartment tower delivers the lot in a distinctive, rippling form that fully maximises its prime Albert Road site, with St Kilda Road, the Domain and Royal Botanic Gardens to the east, and Albert Park Lake and the historic Emerald Hill precinct to the west.
Creating a design that was worthy of the site began with developing a connection to the beauty of the surrounding gardens and lake. The ripples and waves of nature found in the Botanic Gardens and the lake and its parklands inspired a concept that stands out from nearby towers and relates to its context.
The 19-level tower rises above a podium with car parking and apartments, as well as two street-level retail tenancies. There are 282 apartments in total, with all residents enjoying the landscaped, shared rooftop garden with spa pool, amenities and BBQ. Stepped apartment profiles and full-height windows ensure abundant natural light and vast views to the horizon for living areas. Curving, glazed balconies wrap the tower, giving it its striking form and creating a sense of great transparency and lightness.
The Emerald development by Golden Age was completed in December 2014. Principal and Head of Delivery, Nick Nigro and Project Architect, Jacqueline Loh led our architectural team.
