Shortland Street

Auckland, New Zealand

Overview

In keeping with the goal of creating a smart office tower in the city’s top professional precinct, the building’s redesign revamps the look and feel through the use of smooth, streamlined and sustainable building materials.

The brief led us to create a visually appealing gateway leading from the street to the building’s foyer. To achieve this we worked with materials that enhance and complement the building’s existing structure and design. Design work focuses on the foyer space and includes installing a stunning light box and down-lit glass fin panel to illuminate the space.

The commercial tower’s shell is reclad with a bluestone flamed façade for a dramatic effect. Polished Atlantic stone floors craft the external finish. Linear LED strip ceiling and wall lighting welcome visitors into the lobby area with an added layer of luminosity, giving the entrance an overall warmth and glow.

Some of Auckland’s largest professional services firms reside at 51 Shortland Street, including Property Council New Zealand and the New Zealand Law Society.
