The Rise

Perth, Australia

Overview

The Rise is a landmark building for the City of Bayswater and community comprising an amphitheatre, sports hall, library, meeting rooms, café, function centre for 400 people, a gymnasium, offices, child health clinic, parents and children facility.

A number of design features have made The Rise a successful award winning shared community facility. Strong architectural features identify the building as a civic presence and contribute to a high level of recognition. The four red brick towers provide visual cues to enhance the amenity of the precinct.

The facade articulation is simple and bold to the sports hall, with a series of dramatic vertical blades, achieving both a structural bracing function and a shading function to recessed glazed windows set deep within the reveals. Inside, a range of activities are accommodated, from administration and sport to community gatherings.

The building supports the community values and contributes to the vibrancy of Maylands and the surrounding area. It is also a link to the commercial and economic activities of the Maylands Town Centre.
